Square art. With more than 400 works, the collection of the Carré d’Art "art square" makes this museum one of the largest in southern France. Presenting an overview of contemporary creation from the sixties to the present day, the museum highlights artistic movements which originated in the South of France, and in Europe generally. Within the permanent collection, you'll find three core sections which examine in turn the art of France, the idea of a Mediterranean identity and finally the art of the Anglo-Saxon countries. On the second floor of the museum, you'll find temporary exhibitions of an international level.
